Abstract:
This lecture examines spillovers from global monetary policy shocks and policy responses by Asian central banks in the past several years. It then outlines a conceptual framework for thinking about the different types of uncertainty – structural, disturbance, and radical – that Asian central banks may face, and how these could shape key monetary policy trade-offs in the period ahead.
Speaker:
Mr. Dong He is AMRO’s Chief Economist responsible for country and regional surveillance, as well as research on the ASEAN+3 economies. Prior to AMRO, he served as Deputy Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), shaping its global financial stability agenda. He later joined the IMF, covering Article IV consultations, Financial Sector Assessment Programs, and technical assistance missions.
