We were delighted to host Hyun Jin Cho, Film Programmer at the British Film Institute, on September 26, 2025, for an inspiring seminar on Taiwan New Cinema. Drawing on her curation team’s research, Ms. Cho uncovered hidden stories within the movement, underlining the contributions of crew members who shaped the distinctive aesthetics of Taiwanese cinema.
During the Q&A session, fruitful discussions unfolded among scholars, students, and guests under the moderation of Dr. Kristof Van Den Troost and Prof. Timmy CHEN Chih-Ting. Topics ranged from the representation of Taiwan New Cinema to the career pathway to being a film curator.
Thanks to Ms. CHO for her invaluable insights and to all participants for supporting the seminar. Stay connected with us for more thought-provoking seminars throughout the year!
