Prof. Alberto Gerosa works with film and performance. He holds a BA in Performing Arts and Social Sciences, a joint master of research in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Ljubljana and Stockholm Universities, and a PhD in Cultural and Religious Studies from CUHK. He is a visiting scholar at the Image Anthropology LAB, University of Tokyo, working with visual anthropologist Tadashi Yanai.

He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Anthropology Department, and Lecturer at the Centre For China Studies at CUHK. In the past he taught documentary filmmaking at Antwerp University, was assistant professor in film directing at Hong Kong Baptist University and Beijing Normal University UIC, and has been a lecturer in contemporary research methods at the University of Bologna, in the Comparative Literature Department. He has been a reviewer for the academic journals HAU: Journal of Ethnographic Theory and Asian Anthropology.

His ethnographic works have been awarded and presented at numerous academic and art institutions around the world, among others Tokyo University, Cineteca di Bologna, Berkeley University, European Association of Social Anthropologists, Hong Kong History Museum, Slamdance Film Festival, Visions Du Rèel Film Festival, Manchester University, Royal Anthropological Institute UK, Moscow Ethnocinema, DMZ Docs Korea. In Hong Kong his ethnographic film and performance work recently received support from HKADC, HKJC, CCDC, the EOC, RGC, HKAC, and the Sigg Collection.
