Abraham Overbeeke (Bram) recently obtained his Ph.D. at Hong Kong Baptist University. He currently teaches there (HKBU) and at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, in the areas of film and cultural studies. He has previously taught at the U. of Amsterdam and Groningen University. Bram’s research work focuses on 21st century East Asian cinema, on the themes of contradictory temporal experiences, urban ecology, and science fiction. He previously graduated from the Research Master’s in Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam. His teaching areas include science fiction film and literature, Chinese cinema, film analysis, environmental humanities, horror and monsters, globalization, and cultural studies research methods.
