Guided by Professor LIN, our undergraduate students explored the lesser-known aspects of our own city, Hong Kong from 27 May to 5 June. This summer course offered a truly immersive experience, exposing students to the multicultural and diverse tapestry of a place we thought we knew so well. Students had the opportunity to attend the Sunday gathering of domestic workers in Victoria Park, visit ethnic minority families in Yau Ma Tei, and actively participate in Kabbadi events alongside Nepalese youth. Through these experiences, our students delved into significant issues encompassing labour, migration, ethnic minority rights, gender, and LGBTQ rights in Hong Kong. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the incredible hosts and speakers who generously shared their knowledge and experiences with us. We are also indebted to our helpful teaching assistants, Yijun and Ka Wai, for their invaluable support throughout the program.
