Marnyi GYATSO

PhD Graduate,
Postdoctoral Research Scholar

“The courses offered by Professor Jan Kiely concerning Chinese rural society and people’s religious practices often led me to think about my hometown and its past. I felt the urge to write a history of my hometown, once a predominant religious and political center in the eastern Tibetan Plateau while on the margins of Central Tibet and China proper, from a bottom-up perspective.”
